De Olifant little cigars ensure that you always find the right cigar for the right occasion

De Olifant little cigars have been manufactured with the utmost care
in dreamy Kampen on the IJsselmeer since 1832. This is a cigar, the
short-cut filler mixture of which is held by a Java binder. De Olifant
little cigars are covered with real, rare and expensive Sumatran sand
sheet. The taste and aroma are second to none. De Olifant is one of
the few producers who use this wrapper. The different formats ensure
that you always find the right cigar for the right occasion! Probably
the world’s best Sumatran cigars are of real top quality.

From 1825, the then mayor Frans Lemker von Kampen (Holland) began to improve the infrastructure around and in the city. In 1826, the Bremen entrepreneur Johann Lehmkuhl took advantage of these favorable conditions and founded a tobacco factory. The German thus laid the foundation for a development that made Kampen the cigar town in the 19th century. The tobacco processing industry brought wages and bread to hundreds of workers in Kampen. Today there is only one manufacturing factory in Kampen: De Olifant. De Olifant little cigars are made according to Dutch tradition. These are made up of a short cut insert mixture, a binder and a cover sheet. The deposit consists of Java, Sumatra, Brazil and Cuba tobacco. What is unique about De Olifant little cigars worldwide is the fact that each format has its own specific blend.

The insert tobacco is then wrapped in the binder. It is a very important building block for the cigar. Each of these leaves must have a homogeneous taste and is individually selected by hand. It has an excellent structure, strength and burn quality and keeps the embers alive. For years now, De Olifant has been sourcing its binder from the Besuki district on the Indonesian island of Java.

The filler mixture and binder are then wrapped in the rare original Sumatran sand leaf, whose taste and aroma are unmatched. The original Sumatran sand leaf, which is extremely popular among aficionados, is only grown in very small quantities and is often referred to by connoisseurs as “white-burning gold”. This name is no coincidence: one kilogram of cover sheet is more expensive than one kilogram of silver!
De Olifant is one of the few producers who even uses this wrapper for De Olifant little cigars.
