Hofnar little cigars are produced in the two series “Brasil” and “Sumatra”
Hofnar little cigars represent the small cigars of the traditional Dutch brand “Hofnar” or “Jester”. The tradition of the brand goes back to 1900, when James Heesterbeek, after a dispute with his employer at the Texan cigar factory Hoekx und Maas, decided to make cigars himself. He obtained his start-up capital from the sale of a calf, which was used to buy the first tobacco used in production. The brand name was renamed in 1919 by business partners James Heesterbeek and Alex Wolter after the opera “Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi after the character “Hofnar”.
The brand was particularly well known in the Netherlands. However, in 1990 the company closed its doors. It was only in 2008 that the production of Hofnar little cigars was broughtback to life. With a development time of 2 years, the Hofnar little cigars were offered on the market in a new tobacco mixture (blend). Hofnar little cigars are produced in the two series “Brasil” and “Sumatra”.
Different types of tobacco are used so that the taste of the small cigars is less spicy than more enjoyable. With the various mixes “Sumatra” for the wrapper, “Java Besuki” in the binder and tobacco leaves from Java, Cuba and Brazil for the filler, a unique quality of pleasure resulted. Through a long maturation period and patient storage of the tobacco leaves, Hofnar cigarillos develop a special taste through the development of many aromas. The “Brasil Cigarillos” measure a length of 8.6 centimeters and are 0.85 centimeters in diameter. These Hofnar cigarillos are medium in intensity. During an approximate smoking time of 5-10 minutes, a very pleasantly spicy woody aroma arises. Consisting of 100 percent tobacco, the “Brasil Cigarillos” are available in packs of 20 and 50.
With the “Sumatra Cigarillos” series, the manufacturer also integrates Indonesian tobacco ingredients into the tobacco blend. As cigarillos, this series includes the two formats “Sumatra Cigarillo” with a length of 8.6 centimeters and a width of 0.85 centimeters and the “Sumatra
Petit Panatella” with a length of 10 centimeters and a diameter of 1.1 centimeters.
